horizontalbar

Animal Services began an Amnesty Day program in 2005. This outreach and education event provides an opportunity for the Animal Services mobile clinic to enter targeted communities to offer free rabies vaccines for dogs and cats over 4 months old. It also provides citizens the opportunity to surrender pets they are no longer able to care for.

During this event you can:

  • Get FREE rabies vaccinations for your dogs and cats (5 pet maximum per household)
  • Talk to Animal Services about your pet(s) and the law
  • Surrender pets you are unable to care for

Youth Education Programs

Animal Services offers education programs for school aged children. Our programs are offered free of charge to any educator or group in Orange County. Our goal is to teach children safety around animals, and how to care for a pet. Our curriculums are designed to supplement the Character Education and Citizenship requirement under Orange County Public Schools, and meet the requirement to earn badges for Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops.

Bite Prevention Program This award winning program teaches children how to avoid getting bit by a dog. It allows the children to identify unsafe dog situations, aggressive dog behavior, and teaches hands-on techniques to stay safe.

Youth Responsible Pet Owner Class This curriculum is designed to teach children how to properly care for pets. There are five things pets need to be happy and healthy. Do you know what they are?

Shelter Tours Animal Services welcomes groups to tour the shelter. If you happen to visit at the right time, you might catch a glimpse of our veterinarians performing surgeries or one of our Officers unloading animals they just picked up.

To schedule an education activity, please call (407) 254-9150 or e-mail us!
