Yard of the Month, is a fun and relatively simple program designed to recognize and reward great looking yards in your neighborhood. Orange County Neighborhood Services Division encourages residents to keep their neighborhoods clean and attractive and has developed basic program guidelines that any neighborhood can use to start a Yard of the Month.
- Neighborhood Services staff will attend your neighborhood organization meeting to share information about Yard of the Month and will work with a neighborhood beautification committee, who will set up and establish yard selection criteria to start a Yard of the Month program.
- Neighborhood Services will provide the Yard of the Month recognition sign, a yard nomination form, and a yard evaluation form.
- Your neighborhood organization will also be provided with a sample donation request letter to assist with soliciting prizes for additional rewards for Yard of the Month recipients.
The neighborhood organization is responsible for:
- Creating a beautification committee to take on the regular maintenance of Yard of the Month
- Getting the word out to residents about Yard of the Month
- Encouraging resident participation
- Collecting nominations and rate nominations
- Awarding a homeowner with a Yard-of-the-Month sign
