- Be the minimum age requirement in accordance with Florida State Statutes
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be of good moral character; no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, perjury or false statements as outlined in the Florida State Statue.
- Be able to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Be able to work without direct supervision.
- Be able to work in a secured area.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Possess a Valid Drivers License (Florida DL will be required at the time of employment)
- Must possess Florida certification as a Correctional Officer. Applicants who obtained their certification after 7/1/93 must also provide results of Florida Officer Certification examination indicating achievement of mastery level. In addition, applicants who graduated from a Corrections Academy after 2/1/98, must provide results indicating achievement of mastery level for Firearms Qualification. (certified candidates only)
Duties Include:
- Supervising inmates to prevent altercations, intimidation or other undesirable or illegal acts and interceding when necessary.
- Maintaining required records, logs and reports.
- Ensuring safe, secure and orderly movement of inmates throughout the facility.
